This cleaver has a 7-1/8" precision stamped and forged blade, which is the best quality you can expect; and is full tang, with PHK synthetic handle, triple riveted. Blade has a hole for hanging it on a wall or inside a cabinet.
This mid-size all-purpose cleaver is good for slicing vegetables, like cabbage, and fruit, like pineapple; and is also strong enough for chopping small bones and ribs.
Asian food is mostly prepared using a small cleaver, like this one (a Chinese style cleaver is another option; available somewhere in this same catalog). The advantage in comparison to a cook's knife or utility knife is the spatula function for moving the food around. Practical and convenient. Cleaver is corrosion resistant and dishwasher safe, however, for lasting sharpness, a quick dry with soft cloth is recommended immediately after washing.
